Gudrun is a celebrated designer known for her modern yet timeless knitwear, beautifully rooted in her Shetland heritage. Her thoughtful colorwork, elegant constructions, and deep understanding of traditional techniques have made her designs beloved by knitters around the world. She frequently returns to Shetland where she loves spending time with her family in the Westside. In addition to Grand Shetland Adventure Knits she is the author of The Shetland Trader Books One, Two and Three and Knit With Me and and she has a new publication Shetland Shades: Stories in Wool which publishes September 24th with Laine.
After leaving her life as a pastry chef to start a family, Andrea's hands found the necessary freedom to begin creating with fiber instead of flour. She focuses on designing knits for the modern wardrobe – fun to knit and easy to wear. Andrea loves indulging in new techniques and skills and then sharing them with other knitters thru her patterns and workshops. Her goal is to leave knitters feeling empowered, inspired, and wrapped up in their own beautiful knits! You can find her at www.dreareneeknits.com and everywhere else as DreaReneeKnits!
Candice English is the founder and creative director of Farmer's Daughter Fibers, a hand-dyed yarn company in Great Falls, Montana. What began as a small dye operation now runs out of a downtown storefront and a working dye studio, with yarn going out to knitters all over the world. Her palettes come from the area she lives in: the prairie, foothills, big weather, long light.
She is also the founder of Sisters United, a Montana nonprofit built around low-barrier giving to Indigenous women, children, and families. Much of its funding comes straight through the yarn business.
Alongside dyeing, Candice designs knitwear patterns and teaches at fiber events across the country, mostly on color, storytelling, and the way cloth holds a person's history.
Alisha Edmiston is a practicing licensed clinical social worker who lives in Ruidoso, NM. Alisha has over ten years of clinical experience, along with about ten years of collective professional athletic experience in cycling, triathlon, mountain biking, marathon, and ultramarathon. Alisha brings a unique perspective by blending the intersection of personal growth, creative making processes, and an understanding of life values and meaning derived from sport. Living “the process” while practicing gratitude has been a part of her own daily life. In her talk, Alisha invites participants to integrate gratitude into their own making process—and daily life—in an authentic and flexible way based on their own identified values.
