Using Gudrun’s latest book “Shetland Shades: Stories In Wool” as a reference, students will pick their own colorplay adventure. From striping to mosaic knitting to Fair Isle there are many ways to explore color palettes. Students will make swatches in class choosing from 6 different options. Make 1 or all 6! We will also look at the special properties of Shetland wool and test out some techniques that it is particularly suited for. We will also talk about styling vests and possible sewing pattern combos.

Materials: Yarn will be provided in a variety of colors. Please bring a range of circular needles. Sizes to include- US 3 / 3.25 mm, US 4 / 3.5 mm, US 6 / 4 mm, US 11 / 8 mm either 16 or 24 inch length, markers, highlighter tape if you have it.

In this workshop we will focus on understanding ease and discovering our own unique "magic numbers" and how we can apply them to our own personal style! My hope is that after this class, you can pick which pattern size to knit with more confidence, so your making experience can be even more joyful!
