Modern Daily Knitting’s Kay Gardiner and Ann Shayne!

✨ Ann and Kay Tell All: Tales and Lessons from Ten Years of Modern Daily Knitting ✨
Kay Gardiner and Ann Shayne are the co-founders of Modern Daily Knitting, one of the most vibrant places in today’s knitting world. Their partnership began in 2003 with a blog that quickly grew into a beloved hangout online, known for its humor, warmth, and stalwart belief that knitting is a vital part of a life well lived. Their two best-selling books presented knitting as the most fun thing ever, the source of everyday joy, inspiration, and amusement.
What began as a lark twenty years ago has grown into a somewhat larger lark for Kay Gardiner and Ann Shayne, founders of Modern Daily Knitting, the wonderworld for knitters both online and in real life.
This is the talk they have never given, a deep reflection on their work, their friendship, and the knitting community that has taught them so much.
The duo met online in 2002. Since then, their endless curiosity about knitting and the people who love it has led them on a wild, wondrous ride.
Get ready for stories, lessons given and lessons learned, leaps of faith and hard tests, great ideas, terrible ideas, and completely irrational moments of saying “yes.”
Most of all, they’ll celebrate knitting in all its beauty and joy, and explain why their mission has remained constant over their decades of work together: with MDK, the goal has been and will always be to delight knitters.
And at all times, they follow MDK Rule No. 1: Knitting is spoze to be fun.
Modern Daily Knitting would like to welcome you to learn more about the The Equal Justice Initiative, an organization founded by Bryan Stevenson, a civil rights lawyer in Alabama, fighting systemic racism, economic inequality, and judicial corruption.

Experience the five-time Tony Award–winning Buena Vista Social Club on Broadway and get swept up in an exhilarating world of Cuban sound and culture that changed the global music landscape.
Inspired by the Grammy-winning 1997 album of the same name, the Buena Vista Social Club musical tells a story inspired by the legendary artists who recorded the soul-stirring, foot-tapping music of Cuba’s golden age. Their groundbreaking namesake album Buena Vista Social Club inspired an Academy Award–nominated documentary that dove into the history of this ensemble, which recruited many Cuban artists who had been retired for years to authentically recapture Latin American musical genres such as son, bolero, and danzón.
