Mission Statement

As a creative company serving a vibrant and diverse community, we believe that innovation thrives when all voices are heard, valued, and empowered. We are committed to building an environment—across our events and programs—where equity, inclusion, and representation are not only present, but prioritized.
We understand that structural barriers—whether rooted in race, gender identity, sexuality, ability, age, religion, or access—can limit opportunity and participation. That’s why we’re actively working to create pathways that uplift historically marginalized voices and remove the obstacles that hinder creative growth.

This work is ongoing. We know that fostering a truly inclusive culture is not a one-time initiative, but a long-term responsibility. As we enter this next chapter, we’re moving from committee-based planning to a focused, project-driven approach. Guided by expert consultants with lived experience and deep knowledge in DEI, we will continue to build on the foundational work that began with the Diversity Advisory Committee.

Our goal remains clear: to create a welcoming and equitable space where all makers, creators, and contributors feel seen, supported, and inspired.

Accessibility at Knitting LIVE! NYC

At Knitting LIVE! NYC, we want every attendee to feel comfortable, supported, and welcome. We’ve listened to your feedback and are excited to share the accessibility features we’ve put in place for this year’s event:

Masked Marketplace Hours: The first hour of the Marketplace on both Saturday and Sunday mornings will be designated as a masked shopping time to provide a safer experience for our immunocompromised attendees.

Early Access:

Attendees who require extra time may request 15 minutes of early Marketplace access by checking the box on their registration form.

Early access is also available for the Cocktail Reception and Gala Dinner. Skip the lines and head straight to the entrance—volunteers will let you in up to 20 minutes early.

All students are welcome to arrive up to two hours ahead of time for classes if they’d like extra time to get settled.

Wider Aisles: Marketplace aisles have been expanded to improve flow and accessibility.

Fashion Show Accessibility:

Designated seating for mobility assistance users will be clearly marked at the Fashion Show stage on the 6th floor.

Need more space or additional seating? Simply let a volunteer or staff member know, or call 985-240-5511 in advance so we can assist.

NEW & IMPROVED Quiet Zone: We heard you! This year, the Quiet Room will be larger, quieter, and on a separate floor away from the Marketplace—providing more peace and calm. Located in the Harlem Room on the 7th floor, it will be open during these hours and equipped with resources for anyone with sensory needs or who just needs a break.
