Woven Threads with Angela Tong, Mary Martin and host Mieka John
Sunday September 15th 2:00-3:00PM EST
Is weaving on your ever-growing "Next Craft to Dive Into” list? Or are you already a weaver? Come hang out with Mieka John and the wonderful designers Angela Tong and Mary Martin as they discuss their experiences with weaving and if and how it influences their knitwear design.
Angela Tong is a fiber arts designer living in New Jersey with her husband and two daughters. She designs knitting, crochet, and weaving patterns for numerous magazines, books, and yarn companies. She also teaches knitting and weaving classes online for Bluprint, Interweave, and at yarn stores and fiber retreats. Angela is also a certified knitting instructor through the Craft Yarn Council of America.
Mary has pioneered two reversible knitting techniques, Fission & Fusion Knitting. The innovative use of slipped-stitches in her designs led to several methods of creating knitted fabrics with woven motifs. Mary is fascinated by the concise way weaving patterns are communicated & hopes that this will translate into knitting patterns.
Whether you’re interested in weaving yourself, mesmerized by woven patterns or just want to hear some creative stories and tips, this panel is the perfect place to get inspired and learn about this amazing craft!
