Class Details:

Sweater finishing details can make or break your project. In this class, we will learn an easy and repeatable formula for picking up stitches along a vertical edge as one would for a button band. We will also practice simple steps for making stable buttonholes that will wear well over time. These skills can be used in the Wave of Change Jacket pattern, which will be used in the class.

Homework:

Using the bulky-weight yarn you plan to use in class and the larger needles, knit a swatch in stockinette stitch that is 4" wide by 8" long. Block your swatch by laying it flat to dry. Bring your swatch to class with the rest of the skein.

Supplies for Class:

• Students should bring one skein of bulky-weight yarn.
• US 10 / 6.0 mm circular needles on at least a 16" cable to knit your swatch at home.
• US 9 / 5.5 mm circular needles on at least a 16" cable to knit the buttonband and buttonholes.
• Optional crochet hook in Size I (5.5mm) to pick up stitches.

Materials Fee (to Be Paid Directly to the Teacher):
