Class Details:

If you want to start dyeing yarn, but don't know how to get started, or need some structured instructions before you dive in, this class is for you!

With a slide presentation, I will walk you through the process of dyeing yarn made of protein fiber (wool, alpaca, mohair, cashmere, camel, possum, silk, nylon, etc.), including supplies and suppliers, safety precautions, and dyeing process. I will show you how to dye semi-solid colored yarn, and variegated yarn with hand painting and low-immersion bath.

After the slide presentation, you will hand-paint a skein of sock yarn and dye a mini skein of sock yarn in a semi-solid color. $20 material fee will be collected for the full skein and mini skein. A limited number of additional skeins will be available for purchase at the class. Bring your own yarn for dyeing or over-dyeing if you wish. (Please make sure they are made of protein fibers!)

Requirements: Ability to follow instructions. We are handling chemicals. So, proper handling is crucial.
