Lodge: Destinations Knitting Boot Camp

We welcome you to join us at this picturesque Retreat Center nestled in the northeastern- Pennsylvania Pocono Mountains. The spectacular countryside is itself a destination, with numerous trails and back roads for hiking, cycling, and bird watching. This beautiful tucked away campus offers cozy cabins and gourmet food, and it's the perfect settting for knitters to hone their skills and meet like-minded enthusiasts.

Location: This intimate and inspiring setting in the Pocono Mountains features serene walking trails; a 1,300-acre forest; a creek that runs into the nearby Delaware River; clear days and night skies blanketed with stars.

Getting Here: Honesdale, Pennsylvania is located only 2 ½ hours from New York. For driving directions, click here. It's approximately 45 minutes from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, which is served by all major airlines. Complimentary airport shuttle service is provided. The Retreat Center will pick you up from the bus terminal in Scranton.

The Campus: Consists of a 5,200-square-foot Retreat Center known as the Barn, 17 cabins, the Lodge, and the Founders’ farmhouse, located in Boyds Mills–10 miles from Honesdale, Pennsylvania. The Lodge contains eight private rooms with their own baths, and a great room for getting together with others, or just relaxing. The 17 cabins each have their own private baths. When registering, specify whether you would like to stay in the Lodge or a cabin.

The Barn is the hub of activity for meals, hanging out, one-on-one meetings and workshop sessions, with several relaxed classroom-like areas, a Great Hall, an outdoor fireplace

and a giant kitchen.

History: The owners of this Retreat Center are the same owners of the Highlights magazine your children used to love! For more than thirty years, the Highlights Foundation has been fulfilling its mission of improving the quality of children’s literature by helping authors and illustrators hone their craft at this Retreat Center.

Thoughtful Amenities: Cabins and lodge rooms have modern facilities and are knitter-ready with desks, cozy chairs, and filled bookshelves.

What You'll Love: Farm-style meals are prepared by a top-notch chef and mealtimes are perfect for getting to know your fellow knitters. Snacks are always available for late-night or early morning knitting sessions.
