Class Details:
Creating a fantastic pattern is hard. Anyone can write a pattern, right? Not so easily! Pattern writing is a highly specialized form of technical writing, conveying to the maker in words what to do with their hands, hook/needles, and yarn. At the same time, it is an expression of a brand, a communication of trust between maker and designer, a promise of a finished object that fits, and, at the bottom line, a product sold. In this session, we'll explore the most important aspects found in every great pattern, how to approach writing those instructions with confidence, and how to collaborate with an editor. You'll be inspired to take your writing to the next level and come away with resources and references to help you achieve it.
