US 8 (5 mm) knitting needle and worsted weight yarn. Swatch: Cast on 28 stitches. Row 1: knit Row 2: purl Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 18 total rows. Row 19: Bind off 5, knit to end Row 20: purl Row 21: Bind off 3, knit to end. Row 22: purl Row 23: Bind off 3, knit to end Row 24: purl Row 25: Bind off 2, knit to end Row 26: purl Row 27: k1, ssk, knit to the end of the row. Row 28: purl Rows 29-32: repeat rows 27 and 28 twice. Row 33: knit Row 34: purl Row 35: knit Row 36: purl Bind off.
