Name
Spinning for a Project
Teacher
Heavenly Bresser
Class Description
This class is ALL about project planning for spinners of all levels. No more playing “yarn chicken” with your handspun or feeling frustrated because your beloved yarn has gotten “lost” in the pattern! We’ll address major concerns such as how much fiber is “enough,” the importance of grist, how to use a suggested commercial yarn in a pattern as a guide for planning, and other important things to consider before spinning for a project. We’ll discuss the proper use of spinner’s tools and guides including the spinner’s control card, angle of twist, gauge, and more. This in-depth class is built to help you gain greater confidence in your project planning so you can truly enjoy the yarn you make even after you’ve set the twist!
Note: This class is spindle-friendly and not hard for spindlers to keep up with wheel spinners. More than one spindle is recommended but a ball winder will be available to accommodate those with a single spindle.
Technique Requirements: Students must know how to spin a continuous singles yarn.
