Class Details:

In this workshop you will find out how to create beautifully neat joins for intarsia colorwork and knit a gorgeous multicolored sample. Knitters with a firm grasp of knit and purl stitches and in need of a nice stretch will enjoy this class. For the contrast colors, you can use odds and ends from your stash or set aside two balls of yarn for the class. You will use at least two colors of your choice and will be shown how to create neat bobbins to prevent your work from tangling on the wrong side, and leave the workshop with the pattern for a cute buttoned phone cover.

Homework:

You will be knitting a swatch of a flower and will need to select 3 colors:
• Yarn A = background color, at least half a 50g ball of yarn;
• Yarn B = petal color, at least half a 50g ball of yarn;
• Yarn C = central color (you will need a small amount of yarn for this, about 5-10 grams).

If you are confident about working from the handout or already know how, you can prepare some bobbins in advance:
• Yarn A = 2 to 3 bobbins;
• Yarn B = 3 bobbins;
• Yarn C = 1 bobbin.

Supplies for Class:

One light- or pastel-colored ball of yarn for the background color, and either colored oddments from leftover projects or another ball of yarn in a darker shade or a contrasting color. Any fiber content is fine, but cotton gives crisp definition. If using oddments, you can use more than one contrast color. Bobbins can be prepared in advance using the handout (available in the week before class), but the technique will be demonstrated during the class.
