In this class we are going to focus on knitting socks with a heel flap and gusset two at a time using the 2 circular needle method. I will demonstrate how to knit the heel flap, distribute the stitches and work the gusset decreases all two at at time. Students must have a basic understanding of sock knitting and be familiar with the 2 circular needle method. This is NOT a "how to knit socks" class. Students should have completed at least one pair of socks. We will also cover starting socks two at a time and yarn management.
Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, working in the round, have knit a few accessories, knowledge of sock construction, Must know how to knit with the 2 circular needle method.
Knit two sock cuffs with worsted weight yarn using 2, 3.5mm needles, 24 inches long. Cast on 44 sts, work a K2,P2 Ribbing for 10 rounds. Place first cuff on dpns (22 sts on one needle and 22 sts on a second needle). Work a second cuff, same as the first but leave it on your circular needles. One cuff will be on the dpns and one cuff will be on the 2 circular needles to bring to class.
1 color of worsted-weight yarn split into 2 balls or cakes, 2 circular needles, size US 4 (3.5mm), 24" long and DPNs in the same size or a size smaller and stitch markers.
