Class Details:

If you have a knitting machine and don’t know how or where to get started, this class is for you. The machine can look a little intimidating and has a big learning curve upfront. However, once you understand the basics of machine knitting, teaching yourself specific techniques becomes much easier. The objective of this class is to set you up with a foundation of everything you need to know to get started knitting and care for your machine. Through demos and swatch making, we will go step by step together through each of the following topics and troubleshoot any questions you have along the way:

We will cover:
-Machine set up
-The key parts of the machine, carriage and tools that come with it
-Basic machine maintenance
-Casting on and off
-Exploring ladders, eyelets and tension through swatch making.

Technique Requirements: A basic understanding of hand knitting is encouraged, but not necessary

Homework:

None

Supplies for Class:

To knit along with the instructor: A knitting machine, latch hook, yarn suited for your machine, scissors, oil for your machine (Amsoil MP metal protector or comparable brand), and a clean rag or old t-shirt that you don't mind getting dirty. Otherwise, just bring something to take notes with.
