Juha Vehmaanperä is a Helsinki-based knitwear artist whose work focuses on slow fashion, queer theory, and craftsmanship. Juha carries out projects that combine traditional handcraft techniques with contemporary approaches and technologies. Their practice is characterized by a strong emphasis on community, the promotion of DIY culture, and the reinvention of traditional techniques. Their work has received significant international attention and has been exhibited at events such as the Hyères Fashion Festival in France, Dutch Design Week, Pitti Filati in Italy, New York Textile Month, and numerous other prominent design and art exhibitions across Europe. Additionally, Juha has worked as an intern in the knitwear team at Acne Studios in Stockholm, Sweden. Their first large-scale solo exhibition Craft Punk opened at Architecture and Designmuseum in Helsinki 2026 February. In November 2025, they were awarded the Taito Finlandia prize and in 2022 Young Designer of the Year in Finland.
