The heel is the most complex part to understand in the anatomy of a knitted sock. It's a good idea to explore different types of knitted heels to find what you like for your hand-knit socks. Short-row heels are surprisingly more straightforward to execute and look very tidy. Their construction is symmetrical and works well for cuff-down and toe-up socks. In this class, you'll learn to knit the short-row heel using the shadow-wrap short-row technique.
Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, working in the round, have knit a few accessories, knowledge and experience with sock construction, short rows
I suggest that you knit a small sock cuff as detailed below and bring it to the class as a WIP, in order to better understand the heel construction, but this is optional. I suggest using worsted-weight yarn leftovers for the sample for class, but note that you may not be able to continue and finish it into an actual sock.
