This class introduces the fundamentals of Sanquhar knitting, exploring its historical origins, cultural context, and distinctive traditional motifs. Participants will gain insight into the characteristic geometric patterns, the symbolism behind them, and the yarns and materials most commonly used to achieve clear stitch definition. Alongside this background, they will develop practical skills by knitting a small sampler, supported by clear guidance, useful tips, and step-by-step instruction to build confidence in technique and pattern understanding.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, working in the round, chart reading, easy colorwork
