Class Details:
Learn surprising new techniques you'll use again and again to enhance, improve and embellish your knitting with a handy little crochet hook! No prior crochet experience needed. With just a couple of simple stitches you can improve necklines, button bands, add several styles of pockets, create (and fix) button holes, add fake seams, and more! You'll be amazed at the versatility of a simple crochet hook to enhance your knits. Technique Requirements: knit/purl; cast on/bind off; increase/decrease; working in the round; have knit a whole garment; have knit a few accessories; basic finishing techniques
Homework:

Bring two swatches (knit with the same yarn/needle size): With DK or light worsted weight yarn and US Size 6/4mm needle, cast on 30 stitches using your preferred cast-on method. RS: K5, p1, k to last 6 st, p1, k5 WS: K3, p2, k1, p to last 6 st, k1, p2, k3 Repeat these two rows until swatch measures 5 in/12.5 cm. Bind off loosely. Make a second one to match. Block both swatches flat before class. *Note: Do not use black, navy or other dark yarn that may be difficult to see. Be sure that yarn has an even thickness, no slubs and is not prone to splitting.

Supplies for Class:

Size E or F aluminum crochet hook (The plain Boye aluminum crochet hooks work really well - you don't need anything fancy. Hook size is important, so please bring the appropriate size.) US Size 6/4mm needles (24" length circular or DPN) US Size 4/3.5mm needles (24 length circular or DPNs) Scissors Bring your usual knitting notions, as well as a pen or pencil for notes Yarn: You will need scant amounts of yarn in approximately the same weight as what you used for your swatches, but in 2 contrasting colors (20 g each is plenty). Do not bring black, navy or other dark yarn as it will be difficult to see what you are doing. Take care not to bring yarn that is splitty, difficult to work with or that has slubs or uneven texture.
