Class Details:
Two colors of yarn can be used to create an in nite variety of beautiful patterns in knitted fabrics. Take the plunge and learn to work stranded color work. Expert knitter, teacher, and designer Andrea Rangel will guide you through all the elements needed to make striking stranded patterns in your knitting. Learn to read color charts, manage two balls of yarn, catch floats, and create gorgeous smooth fabric while working a fun cowl pattern. You’ll also get hints on how to pick colors that shine together and which yarns will work best for your color work project. Join us and make your knitting colorful!
Technique Requirements: Knit/purl; cast on/bind off; working in the round; have knit a few accessories
Homework:
Your homework is to do the bottom edge ribbing of your cowl. Here’s how: NOTE: DK Version numbers are listed first and Worsted Version numbers are listed second in the parenthesis. BOTTOM EDGE RIBBING With Main Color and smaller needle, CO 120 (96). Place marker for beginning of round and join, being careful not to twist. Rnd 1: *K2, p2; repeat from * to end Repeat last rnd 2 (1) more time(s). Knit 1 round.
Supplies to Bring:
To knit the cowl: DK- or worsted-weight yarn in 2-4 contrasting colors • For the 2-color worsted version, bring 100 yards of one color and 50 yards of another • For the 4-color DK version, bring 115 yards of one color, 50 yards of two other colors, and a small quantity of a fourth color (about 10 yards is needed) • Two 16 in circular needles • For the worsted version, I recommend a US 5 and a US 7 • For the DK version, I recommend a US 3 and a US 5 • stitch markers • scissors • tapestry needle
