Class Details:
Double knitting is a versatile and wonderful way of creating stunning effects in reversible, two-sided knitting, so no more wrong sides, no unsightly floats, and best of all, two garments in one, as whatever beautiful pattern is displayed on the front shows on the back, too, but with the colous reversed. Magic! This fascinating class takes you through the basics of double knitting, including a two-color cast-on, the mechanics of how to work pairs of stitches in double knitting, clean and tidy edges, changing color mid row, and how to cast off in pattern, and with two colors. At the end of just three hours, you’ll have all the skills you need to go home and double-knit a scarf! Technique Requirements: Knitting and purling. That’s about it.
Homework:
Please learn the Two-Color, Alternating Long-Tail Cast-On For Double Knitting as taught in this video: https://youtu.be/RO-maaxl8Rc
Supplies for Class:
One pair of 4mm knitting needles. Can be straights, circular, or DPNs. Approx. 10g of each of two colors of DK-weight yarn. Choose solid or semi solid colors that contrast strongly with each other.
