Class Details:

In this class, you will learn the ins and outs of intarsia knitting with up to four colors. We will start knitting a swatch (9" x 9") with two to three colors over a series of rows to get comfortable with how to join and switch between colors. We will then move onto creating shapes (triangles, squares, diagonal lines) and using up to four colors per row.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, have knit a few accessories, easy colorwork

Homework:

For this class, I will be using a bulky/chunky weight yarn and size US 19 needles. For the swatch, you are welcome to use lighter weight yarn and smaller needles. For class, please bring 3-4 colors with one being your main color and the others being your contrasting colors. Before class, please knit a swatch in garter stitch measuring 9" wide and 3" tall in your main color. Again the swatch can be whatever weight you want, however if this is your first experience with intarsia, I highly suggest a chunkier yarn as it makes it easier to see your color changes (medium to bulky weights).

Supplies for Class:

Aside from the homework, please bring US 19 needles (straight or circular), 3-4 colors of a medium/chunky/bulky weight, scissors, and a tapestry needle. Optional: smaller needles and lighter weight yarn for the swatch if you prefer (medium to bulky weights). Examples of yarns: Wool and the Gang Crazy Sexy Wool, Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick, Lion Brand Fifty50 yarn, Lion Brand Hometown USA, Sugarbush Chill, We Are Knitters The Wool, Bernat Softee Chunky, Big Twist Natural Blend Yarn.
