Have you always wanted to learn how to design hats for yourself and your loved ones? Then this is the class for you! Come to class prepared with swatches of knitted fabrics and learn how to measure your gauge, measure a head, and combine the numbers to create custom hat designs using templates Shaina provides. This is a great class for first-time pattern writers!

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, working in the round, have knit a few accessories

Homework:

US 8 (5mm) knitting needle, medium color worsted weight yarn.
Knit a swatch:
Cast on 28 stitches (please be sure your cast on is not too tight).
Row 1 (RS): knit 28.
Row 2 (WS): purl 28.
Repeat these last 2 rows for 30 rows total. Bind off comfortably (not too tightly and not too loosely).

Feel free to knit additional swatches in various yarn weights and needle sizes and pattern stitches as desired, making the swatches at least 6” wide.

Supplies for Class:

Stitch marker, pen/pencil, measuring tape, caluculator, printed pattern templates. US 8 (5 mm) 16” circular knitting needle. Worsted-weight yarn from the homework, about 100g.
