Every item at Yank Your Yarn is hand-created using hand-coiled copper wire and other jewelry findings. Embellishments include beads and charms from my bodacious bevy of bits and bobs. My "factory" is an old table in my yarn stash room, where I twist and clip and glue while listening to movies of dubious quality. Each creation is a limited edition with names inspired by the best (and worst) or pop culture, misheard song lyrics, and bad puns. In other words, weirdness from the dark recesses of the mind that has earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Scene Design, of all things.
I started Yank Your Yarn in September 2018 after moving to southern Kentucky, after twenty years of living in Arizona. I had lost nearly all of my stitch markers that I had collected over the years when a single box got lost in the move. I also lost half of my refrigerator magnets and the knitted Flying Spaghetti Monster. Sad! Instead of buying replacement stitch markers, I decided I should just make my own, which then snowballed into my own Etsy shop. “Yank Your Yarn” was the name of my fictional yarn shop - named because it was alliterative, silly, and somehow slightly risqué.
After three years of enjoying the blue grass and bourbon of Kentucky, the Good Hubster had an opportunity to return to his homeland of the Arizona desert, so off we went! And as luck had it, no stitch markers were lost this time. We are thrilled to be desert rats again. So look for me at a fiber festival in the great Western US in the near future.
