In this class, we will dip our toes into the world of Fair Isle knitting! We will look at choosing colors, color dominance, stranding the yarn, speed swatching in the round and we will even do some steeking (cutting into our knitting)!
Gudrun will also speak to some of the historical aspects of this iconic knitting tradition and will have lots of samples to inspire you in class so that you leave with the confidence to choose shades for your next colorwork project. We will be working with a tried and true product, 100% Shetland yarn, traditionally used for Fair Isle knitting.
This class is intended as an introduction to Shetland wool and its suitability to stranded knitting. You can be a beginner or seasoned colorwork knitter but some experience with stranded knitting is required.
