This class identifies the basics of creating knit/crochet wall art, focusing on a simple landscape design. We will review the process of sketching out components of the landscape, creating knit versions of those components, fixing them to the "canvas", and then review additional options for further embellishment. Students may knit, crochet, weave, or yarn-paint components: all are encouraged to bring your existing skills to the table. This is a forgiving project style because like landscapes themselves, mistakes just add character! For advanced crafts, this is an opportunity to strategically use cabling or other techniques to add texture. For newbies, this is an opportunity to embrace the organic aesthetic of mistakes. We'll also review some resources and tips to advance the skills taught in the class if you'd like to do more on your own.
If you'd rather not knit/crochet/weave pieces during class, find and bring a few small swatches or UFO remnants you don't know what to do with.
Yarn (choices reviewed in handout), your choice of needles/crochet hook, small cardboard box (dimensions will be in handout), marker or writing implement, glue stick OR needle & thread.
