Class Details:

This is a two-part class. Both sections of the class will automatically be placed in your cart when you select one of the sessions.

This class will take you from a beginner to expert brioche knitter. You will not only fall in love with the uniquely soft and versatile brioche stitch, but also learn everything you need to master this technique so you can get started on all the brioche patterns you’ve been admiring. Through knitting a swatch you will get hands-on experience and find out how increases and decreases can be used not only to shape the fabric but also to create graphic patterns.

  • Part 1 covers the basics of the one- and two-color brioche techniques. We’ll also get to know the abbreviations and chart symbols used in patterns, how to choose and combine yarns and colors and fixing mistakes, and talk about cast-ons and selvedges.
  • Part 2 covers brioche increases and decreases, reading written patterns and charts, how to count, measure, and block brioche (and why brioche gauge is so tricky) as well as bind-off techniques.

Technique Requirements: adventurous knitters with little or no brioche experience or knitters with basic brioche comfort, interested in increases/decreases.

Homework:

None

Supplies to Bring:

Two colors of yarn and circular needles or 2 DPNs (heavier weight yarn in highly contrasting semisolid colorways preferred), plus 2 stitch markers and 1 locking stitch marker.
