Take your brioche knitting to the next level in this class so you can be ready for shaping, intricate designs, and even sweater knitting in brioche! We will practice increasing, decreasing, and fixing mistakes together. All the while, you’ll learn more about the structure of brioche stitch and prepare yourself for tackling the projects of your dreams!
Technique Requirements: Students must know how to cast on, knit, purl, and have knowledge of brioche stitch.
With a light color of yarn and US 8 (5mm) circular knitting needle, cast on 17 stitches (one stitch on each edge is used for selvedge purposes).
Set-up row (WS): knit 1, [sl1yo, knit 1] repeat between [ ] to the end of the row.
Row 1 (RS): sl1, [brk, sl1yo] repeat [ ] to the last two stitches, brk, sl1.
Row 2 (WS): knit 1, [sl1yo, brk] repeat [ ] to the last two stitches, sl1yo, knit 1.
Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 1”, ending after completing a row 2. Leave the stitches on the needle.
2 contrasting colors of worsted-weight yarn and size US 7 (4.5 mm) or 8 (5 mm) knitting needles—one 24" circular needle. Note: circular needles are necessary for in two-color brioche knitting.
