Fasten your seatbelts and get ready to add that perfect finishing touch to your beautiful knits with clean zippers and cute buttons! In this class, we’ll delightfully explore adding fasteners to your knitting projects, ensuring a professional and polished look. We’ll cover everything from selecting the right fasteners to creating sturdy buttonholes and neatly inserting zippers.

Whether you're completing a cozy cardigan or a stylish bag, knowing how to properly attach zippers and buttons is essential for functionality and aesthetics.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, working in the round

Homework:

Using DK yarn, loosely CO 30 sts with your favorite cast-on method.

Row 1: K4 *p2, k2 * to last 6 sts, p2, K4.

Row 2: P4 *k2, p2 * to last 6 sts, k2, p4.

 

Repeat Rows 1 & 2 for a total of 50 rows. 

 

BO all sts in your favorite bind-off method. 

 

Create 2 swatches in total. Block swatches and bring to class. 

 

Gauge: 4 inches in ribbing = 19 sts x 28 rows after blocking. 

Supplies to Bring:

Along with your homework, please bring a DK-weight yarn and US 6 (4mm) needles. Zippers and buttons will be provided.
