This class combines intarsia and Fair Isle to produce patterns that change color both vertically and horizontally. We will learn what makes a motif successful using this hybrid technique, and then knit a small sampler using either a motif that’s provided or one of your very own. At the end of the adventure, you’ll leave the class with a souvenir swatch that will serve as inspiration for future projects.
Technique Requirements: Students should already have basic knitting skills, including cast on, bind off, purl, knit, Fair Isle knitting, and reading charts.

3–5 skeins (partial skeins are fine) of different colors of yarn—at least one neutral, all worsted weight—circular knitting needles appropriate for the yarn you have selected (I like to have a variety of needles with me when creating a new design), stitch markers, pencil, stick ruler, measuring tape, calculator, sticky notes or magnetic board to keep your place on the chart, and the usual knitting bag filled with treasures.
