This class will lead you through the creation of a stranded, hand knit hat using circular needles. We will explore the techniques of working in the round, two-color ribbing, reading charts, and simple stranded color work. I'll share some of my favorite tricks, including tips for swatching color work in the round, and joining in the round without twisting the work. At the end of the class you will have a solid understanding of the stranded knitting technique, and as you complete the project you will reinforce the skills you've just mastered.
Technique Requirements: Students should be comfortable with cast on, knit and purl, and simple decreasing. Confident beginners and anyone who has yet to try working with two yarns at once will love this class!
Be sure yarn is wound and ready to use.
2 skeins yarn (Sample is worked using Noro Silk Garden Lite). If you prefer a more graphic version of this hat, choose two solid color yarns (but color changing yarn is FUN to use in projects like this!) 16” circular or double pointed needles appropriate for size of yarn (sample was worked using US6 [4.0mm]), stitch marker(s), pencil, note paper, sticky notes or magnetic board to keep your place on the chart, and the usual notions and treats you like to have with you as you knit.
