Delve into the art of circular shawl knitting in this focused workshop, where we'll explore the creation of mini prototypes in three circular formats: square, pi, and spiral. Participants will learn Emily Ocker's Cast On, a versatile technique that starts the knitting from the center out, making it ideal for these types of shawls. This workshop is perfect for those looking to expand their knitting repertoire with circular shapes, offering insights into the unique construction methods and pattern adaptations necessary for each style.
Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, working in the round
Before attending the workshop, participants should be comfortable with basic knitting techniques such as casting on, knitting, and purling. It’s beneficial to practice the magic loop or other methods of circular knitting if not already familiar.
Yarn: 3 to 5 10g DK skeins.
Needles: Circular needles appropriate for DK-weight yarn. I will be using the magic loop method for demonstration, but participants may use any circular method they are comfortable with.
Stitch Markers: 8+ interlockable stitch markers to manage increases and pattern transitions.
