Class Details:

If you’re ready to take your stranded knitting to the next level, this class is for you! You’ll learn to hold two colors of yarn at the same time (both in your left hand, both in your right hand, or one in each), so you never have to drop them when it’s time to change colors. You’ll come to understand yarn dominance and an easy way to remember how to get the results you want. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to catch floats while you are working—whether the bottom yarn or the top yarn, and whether on the right or wrong side of your work—all while holding both yarns at the same time. This will make your work progress more quickly and allow you to maintain a more consistent tension, resulting in the most beautiful stranded color projects you can imagine.

Technique Requirements: This class will be a better experience for you if you already make use of a “yarn hold” while you knit, meaning you don’t hold your yarn between your thumb and forefinger to make a stitch, and don’t drop it between stitches.

Homework:

None

Supplies to Bring:

2 contrasting balls of solid-color worsted- or DK-weight yarn, with needles that are appropriate for the yarn (i.e., size 8 for worsted or 6 for DK). You can bring straight or circular needles to class, but we will be working flat (back and forth) rather than in rounds.
