Class Details:

Do you steer clear of any project that requires seaming? Have you knit gorgeous sweaters in pieces, only to have all of your effort ruined by improper finishing? Do you have finished garment pieces languishing in your closet because you’re dreading seaming them together? Are you wary of blocking, or unclear of what finishing method to apply to your lace, Fair Isle, or cabled piece? Put all of your fears and worries aside: in this class, we’re going to go over common blocking techniques and when to apply them. We’ll also discuss the “S” word: seaming. We'll discuss why seaming in garments is so important, and teach you the steps to seam your knitting together. We promise once you’ve learned how to do it, you’ll not only never dread it again, you’ll actually enjoy and appreciate the process!

Homework:

Students should bring to class four Stockinette stitch knit swatches knit in the same yarn that are approximately 4" (10cm) wide and exactly 36 rows long, not including cast on and bind off rows. Knit one lace swatch approximately 4" x 4" (10cm) square in the pattern of your choosing.

Supplies for Class:

Please bring tapestry needle, gauge check of flat ruler, pins, and a plain white bath towel. Homework required; will be available in the Event Hub prior to the event.
