Class Details:

This is a two-part class. Both sections of the class will automatically be placed in your cart when you select one of the sessions.

Creating a seamless raglan sweater pattern can be an easy and fun process! After this 2-session class you will feel confident to write and knit your top-down patterns in any size, from babies to adults. In class we will use a worsted-weight wool, but you will learn how to adapt it to any other kind of yarn: fingering, sport, DK, or bulky. You will be ready to use your imagination and turn your dream sketch into beautiful and wearable sweaters.

Using a swatch as a guide, Vivi will show you how to do the math to calculate the number of stitches from start to end. You will learn how to balance stitches at the neckline, front, back, and sleeves. You will be presented to different sleeve proportions to achieve distinct styles: fitted, balloon or regular sleeves.

Fitting will be an important part of this conversation. You will understand how to take accurate body measurements, how to design ease and waist shaping. The goal is to write your perfect raglan pattern, knit it in your favorite yarn, and love to wear it forever!

In class, you will make a 6-month-baby size vest to understand how to calculate all the steps, write the pattern, and learn the techniques required. You will leave the class ready to write a pattern and knit a vest in any size and any wool weight at home. Note: Grading is not part of this class.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, have knit a few accessories
