Class Details:

This class wil detail both constructions and in the end you will be able to knit both, understanding the characteristics of both (what they have in common and the differences and how to choose one or another). Topics include:
• all the steps of bottom-up and top-down
• the yoke structure/shaping (descreasing or increasing proportions, best spots for placing the beginning of the round marker, how to add motifs)
• the moment of joining or separating body and sleeves
• neckline shaping
• 3D underarm (seaming or picking up stitches for a curved effect at underarms)

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, working in the round, short rows

Homework:

Knit both sleeves and the body from the Bottom-Up construction (handout will be available in the Event Hub in advance of the event).

Supplies for Class:

• Printed out handout • About 230 yds / 210 m of DK to Aran weight yarn in MC; about 15 yds / 14 m of DK to Aran weight yarn in CC • Needles in suitable size for the chosen yarn: two sets of DPN’S; one 9” / 22 cm circular needles (or longer for Magic Loop technique); one 16” / 40 cm circular needles (or longer for Magic Loop technique). ***If you don’t have all the needles in the same size, you can bring needles one size up or down. Gauge is not crucial for the class • Stitch markers, being one different from the others to indicate the beginning of the round; tapestry needle • Waste yarn in contrasting color • Paper and pencil for notes
