Class Details:

When you have a large bust; broad or narrow rounded shoulders; a full belly; wide hips; or large biceps, it can feel like certain sweater styles are not for you—but that’s simply not true!

Learn about key measurements that help you make your best-fitting drop-shoulder sweater yet! Using your measurements and body type, learn how to choose a size for a drop-shoulder construction based on the style of the drop (traditional drop shoulder, modified drop shoulder, Dolman sleeve, etc). We’ll look at the body shape of a number of popular patterns, and learn how to modify the shape when it’s not quite right for you. Finally: sleeves. We’ll talk about drop-shoulder sleeve and armhole construction and how you can “mix and match” sleeve and body sizes within the same pattern.

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease, have knit a whole garment, basic finishing techniques

Homework:

Email your drop sweater fit issues, concerns, and photos to Kim at: kim@indigodragonfly.ca at least 3 days prior to class. Take the measurements indicated on the first page of your handout (available in the Event Hub the week of the event). You must have these measurements with you in class to fully benefit and participate.

Supplies to Bring:

Tape measure; pencil/pen/notebook; calculator; handout.
