Class Details:

This is a two-part class. Both sections of the class will automatically be placed in your cart when you select one of the sessions.

This workshop is a general introduction to working with marls as a way to create color effects in handknitting. Many colors of Ito Kinu and Ito Sensai will be provided in class so you can play and experiment. You’ll learn how to use microswatches to pre-visualize how marls look and work out arrangements of marls I call marl sequences. You’ll get the Ella Improv pattern as part of the class, which is an ideal small project to experiment with marls. If you love color, but can sometimes worry about choosing color, this class will give you some practical approaches that build confidence.

Technique Requirements: cast on, bind off, knit, purl, increase and decrease without help and should be able to read their knitting.

Homework:

None

Supplies for Class:

Yarn will be provided. Students should bring needles in US 3 (3.25 mm) and US 4 (3.5 mm) sizes. They can be circulars, straights, or dpns and they should have sharp tips like lace needles.
