Class Details:

Learn how to knit Portuguese style! Portuguese knitting is more efficient and easier on your joints, so it can help reduce strain and fatigue. In this style of knitting, the yarn is tensioned either around the neck or using a knitting pin. This unique method of tensioning the yarn allows both knit and purl stitches to be created with a simple flick of the thumb! In this workshop, you'll learn the basics of Portuguese Knitting, and then use your new skills to learn stranded colorwork. Portuguese Knitting makes it easier to control the tension of your floats, making for easy stranded knitting! Note: If you are taking Ana's Symbolism in Stitches workshop in the morning, you can knit your new design in this workshop!

Homework:

To make a hat: Using one color of worsted-weight yarn, cast on 96 stitches onto your circular needles and bring to class.

To make a chunky cowl: Using one color of bulky-weight yarn, cast on 72 stitches onto your circular needles and bring to class.

NOTE: If you're taking Symbolism in Stitches and want to work on that project, go ahead and bring it! Please also prepare for a hat or cowl as listed above, and bring both to class.
