Sock knitting is magic but can be very confusing with so many options. This class is designed to help you with THE most confusing option, sock heels. In this class I will be teaching you about the pros and cons of the more commonly used heels, heel flap and gusset, afterthought and short row heels. As well as variations on each. We will also look at a other heels like a square/dutch heel, fleegle heel, double heel flap, Sweet Tomato Heel and a few more. I will also cover how these heels apply to top down and toe up socks.
We will cover when to use a certain heel. Choosing a heel that is the best fit for your feet. And how to change/swap out a heel in a sock pattern. We will also do a side-by-side comparison of all three heels. If you have ever had a question about sock heels, which one to knit, when to use it and why one instead of another, this is the class for you.
An important thing to keep in mind. Sock knitting has been around for more years than we can count, and the names of many things change and evolve over time and by generation to generation. Sock Knitters have very strong opinions and feelings but there is no right or wrong way to knit your socks. Another goal of this class is to free you to knit socks the way you want to knit them not the way others think you should knit them.
