A perfect introduction project to machine knitting for beginners or those wanting to hone their Fair Isle skills. In the class we will knit a single wrist warmer with a Fair Isle pattern, and you will have instructions and knowledge to complete the second wrist warmer and the cowl after class. There will be a demo of all the finishing that you need to complete the items. You will be provided with a basic Fair Isle pattern for this project but will also be advised on how you can design or add your own patterns to future projects. Just in time for machine knitting beautiful holiday gifts!

Homework:

None

Supplies for Class:

Suitable for any standard-gauge domestic Japanese knitting machines (with a 24 stitch repeat punchcard or electronic patterning). Recommended yarn for class: I use a 2/11.3 lambswool yarn which knits beautifully. You will need something similar in weight to this (anything up to a traditional 4-ply weight) in two contrasting colors, along with a waste yarn that is a strong contrast color to both of your main yarns. For waste yarn I use old stash yarn that is less fluffy than wool—nylon or polyester works well but anything will do.
