Name
Handspun Hope
Class Description
Handspun Hope is a nonprofit organization that envisions entire communities freed from poverty. We pursue this by reaching out to the most vulnerable people in Rwanda and creating environments where they are empowered to live out their full potential at work, home and in their spiritual lives.
We employ 123 women who create organic merino yarn that is hand spun and naturally dyed using native Rwandan plants. Additionally, they naturally hand-dye Ethiopian cotton spun on a drop spindle by women working for a cooperative in Ethiopia. Each skein purchased directly assists Handspun Hope in providing above fair-wage salaries, family healthcare and education expenses for 181 children.
