Class Details:

This is a two-part class. Both sections of the class will automatically be placed in your cart when you select one of the sessions.

Using architectural images as inspiration, we will get creative with colored paper and pencils to create graphic collages that we will then translate into chart form, ready to make your own unique knitted collage. We will cover how to translate basic blocks of color and texture from your collages into a knitting chart, the basics of intarsia, and how to combine color and texture to add depth to your design. This class will give you a real insight into how I created many of the designs from my collection, “Abstract.”

Technique Requirements: knit/purl, cast on/bind off (will be teaching basic intarsia in the class, no prior knowledge necessary)

Homework:

Knit a gauge swatch using Rowan Felted Tweed and 4mm needles; adjust needles to get the gauge as printed on the yarn’s ball band.

Supplies for Class:

4mm needles (or size to obtain ball-band tension for Rowan Felted Tweed), paper scissors, ruler, small selection of coloring pencils, a pen, a gluestick, and masking tape. You will also need to bring a selection of Rowan Felted Tweed, partial balls are ideal if you have any leftovers in your stash—at least 5 colors you like together.

Materials Fee (to Be Paid Directly to the Teacher):
