Class Details:

The goal of this class is to create a safe and fun space for students to deepen a friendship or make a new friend through conversation and knitting. Students should either register for the class with a friend, or they will be assigned a partner. We will be working on the Wave of Change Shawl or Blanket, a pattern that can be knit in any yarn gauge. Students will either learn or review the Magic Loop Method, as the as the pattern is a square that is knit in the round from the center out. After the center is completed, and at the sound of a buzzer, each partner pairing will answer conversation prompts. Conversations will be private between the two partners to foster trust. The projects started in class can be finished at home as a token of the time spent with a friend. Will you be receptive to answer introspective questions? Will you share your feelings with a friend?

Homework:

None

Supplies for Class:

Students should bring one skein of yarn. The pattern was written for a sport-weight yarn that can be worn as a shawl or lap blanket, or a bulky yarn for a full-sized bed blanket. Check the ball band for the appropriate needle size. Needles must be at least 40"/100 cm circular needles in order to work the Magic Loop method and hold the number of stitches as the shawl or blanket grows.
