Please join the renowned designers Dee Hardwicke and Jeanette Sloan for this very special workshop launching exclusively at Knitting LIVE 2023.

The idea for this unique botanical art class for Knitters came about when Dee and Jeanette were imagining the kind of workshop that they would both love to participate in! As a celebration of their shared love of fiber crafts, Dee and Jeanette have designed this class to draw on each of their skill sets. They’ll take you on a glorious creative journey, showing you how to transform botanical artworks into stunning pieces of knitting that bring together intarsia colorwork with beaded knitting.

On the day of the workshop, you will arrive to find tables laid out with inspiring still lifes of flowers and foliage. Throughout the morning session, Dee will share some of the techniques she teaches in her fine art drawing classes to show you how to combine colors, shapes, and motifs to create your own botanical artworks, taking your inspiration from the gorgeous tabletop floral displays (no art skills are required). Dee—assisted by Jeanette—will then guide you through the process of translating your artworks into charts that are ready to knit from.

In the afternoon session, Jeanette—assisted by Dee—will use her expertise to help you select yarns and show you how to transform your charts into spectacular hand knits to treasure, using a combination of beaded knitting and intarsia colourwork techniques. This unmissable workshop from two experienced designers is packed with inspiring insights into artistic techniques and knitting skills that will help take your knitting and creativity to new and exciting levels. Expect to work hard, discover lots and have plenty of fun along the way!

Technique Requirements: You should be able to knit and purl with confidence, be able to read a chart and have some experience of stranded colourwork and intarsia. No art skills are required.
