Class Details:

Due to a family emergency, Deb Newton, the original teacher of this class, will not able to be at the event. We are thrilled that an excellent teacher, Dori Kershner, has stepped in to teach it in her own way, and she describes it as the following. (Handout updated February 8).

Do you finish a garment or shawl only to feel like it just falls flat? When you look at patterns do you wish you could modify the design just a little bit to make it ‘yours’?

This class will take ordinary patterns and show you how to make them spectacular!
During these 3 hours your will:

  • Learn to make your borders lie flat with minimal need for blocking
  • Develop a foolproof system for picking up stitches along any edge on the first try!
  • Customize simple patterns with knit-on borders
  • Learn how to embellish and enhance your knits with applied edgings, button bands and more!
Homework:

Required for this class are two swatches, knitted as described here. Use a worsted weight yarn.
SWATCHES: Make 2.
First swatch:  With worsted-weight yarn, cast on enough stitches to make a large swatch approximately 6" wide. Work in stockinette for 8” then bind off.  Second swatch:
