Name
Cashmere People Yarns
Class Description
Cashmere People Yarns is made up of women-run cooperatives in Tajikistan and Afghanistan. They hand-spin and -dye cashgora yarn from goats raised in the Pamir Mountains. Cashgora is its own animal (a cross between a cashmere-producing goat and a local, mohair-type goat). The resulting yarn is luxuriously soft with a bit of shine. These women live in some of the most isolated, traditional communities in the world. Your support strengthens their personal power, providing them with earning opportunities and developing connections across cultures. We believe that this strong, personal link between fiber producers, spinners, and buyers makes a better product and promotes a more conscious, not-just-for-profit business.
