Class Details:
Yup: we’re going to cut our knitting, no w(h)ine required. Be it stranded or plain work, cut steeks are (if you’ll allow for the pun) a shortcut for knitting in the round and can accommodate design aspects that might not be possible otherwise. But before we touch our scissors, we’ll stabilize our work and explore finished (or not!) edges after they’ve been cut. We will talk about closure options for cardigan sweaters including button bands, i-cord edgings, and zippers Technique Requirements: knit/purl; cast on/bind off
Homework:
With worsted-weight 100% wool yarn, CO 48 sts, join to work in the round, taking care not to twist work. Knit in the round until piece is 6" long, BO all sts. Optional: stranded colorwork may be included. If small circumferences are challenging, classwork can also be done using a flat piece of knitting, but it’s so much more fun to cut if it’s cuff-sized.
Supplies for Class:
Homework, contrast yarn to what was used for homework, needles one size smaller than homework needles, sharp small or medium sized scissors, a button or two you might use on a future sweater, pencil. If you have works in progress or completed steek-able knitting, please bring them along for discussion in class.
