Class Details:
Those cold winters call for more than just any kind of mittens. Thrumming is incorporating pieces of fibre/tops to your knitting creating a soft, insulating layer between you and that winter chill. These cozy mittens will warm your chilly hands till you can make it to your next cup of warm tea or hot chocolate. In this class, you'll learn a bit about fibers, what you can thrum and then get your hands on some yarn and fiber to try it out yourself! You'll get to choose from a variety of fiber colors to add a splash of color to your winter wardrobe. Some speedy knitters might even have a full mitten by the end of the class but all students will go home with a new skill under their belt and their new favorite winter mittens on their needles. From the moment you enter the classroom, Mieka works to make sure your time together is safe, valuable, and fun! You'll leave feeling not only accomplished and armed with new skills but but that you've connected with your community. knit/purl cast on/bind off increase/decrease working in the round have knit a few accessories basic finishing techniques

Supplies for Class:
Please bring aran weight yarn of animal fiber (preferably wool), 5mm (US 8) and 4.5 mm (US 7) DPNs or a long circular needles to use the magic loop method, a 5mm (H-8) crochet hook, 2 stitch markers and a tapestry needle. Fiber in a variety of colors will be provided for you to thrum with, but if you have some you’d like to use, feel free to bring that too!
