Class Details:
Discover the creative art of Ecoprinting! Spend time playing with leaves and flowers learning to capture the unique qualities of plants on silk. In this class we will be working with natural dyes and plant materials, iron and tannins, pressure and steam to make lasting prints on silk. Learn how to prepare your fabric, what plants produce dyed prints, and how to print with those that don’t during this relaxed and playful class. You will go home with 2 printed silk scarves and the knowledge to repeat the ecoprinting process.
Homework:
None
Supplies for Class:
Rubber gloves, apron or clothes that can get messy, a plastic bag for carrying home your wet silks. I will be bringing lots of plant material to experiment with. However, if you have favorite leaves or flowers where you live and want to bring those along, I highly encourage that! You can lay them flat in a zip-top bag and store them in your fridge until you are ready to travel (they will be fine at room temp until you get to class). It’s always fun to experiment with plants that you can find in your own environment.
