Class Details:
We will learn how to knit a cardigan using the most basic knitting techniques. This simple pattern yields a very stylish garment that flatters your figure. Using mostly the knit stitch (purling on the sleeve cuffs is optional), we will learn how to edge our knitting, create an armhole, cast on stitches in the middle of your work, bind off stitches, increase and decrease, pick up stitches, and work in the round. We will also use a crochet hook to create an afterthought seam. In this class we will create a tiny mock up of the CardiZen, so that you can go home and confidently knit the whole garment. Technique Requirements: Knit/purl; cast on/bind off
Homework:
Students should knit a swatch using bulky yarn. Using long-tail cast-on, CO 30 sts. Knit in garter st for 4 inches. Do not bind off. Bring the project with live stitches on the needles to class.
Supplies for Class:
1 skein bulky/chunky-weight yarn. Corresponding circular needle size to match the yarn selected on a 24" or longer cable for magic loop. I will teach how to do magic loop for knitters who are more familiar with DPNs. 1 crochet hook to match the size of the circular knitting needles. 2 locking stitch markers and at 2 regular stitch markers.
